:: Blog - Outdoor Micro Racing ::
Guess what I spent my Sunday doing, well including 4.5 hours driving and a 180 mile round trip I went grass track micro racing !

Amazingly to my knowledge Leighton Buzzard Model Car Club's outdoor open meeting is the first UK outdoor race meeting of it's kind for 18th scale off-road micros held in recent years, and possibly the very first ever full stop.

The meeting featured 10th buggys and 10th M-Chassis rally minis along with the micros so not only did it keep the event light-hearted and fun but also introduced micros to racers from other classes, a worthy accomplishment in my view from a club at the very forefront of promoting the UK micro scene.

So having spent the day racing my Losi Mini-T Pro outdoors what's the verdict ? Well I'm stoked, grass track micro racing is awesome and really shows the versatility of these little racing machines. The Mini-T was the only 2WD racing at the meeting but kept the B-final 4WDs honest and was a blast to race around the track, including wheeling on demand down the main straight. After much tweaking I ended up at the end of the day using the kit Mini-T Pro suspension set-up and tyres, which proves the Mini-T really was designed for outdoors and not just indoors carpet racing as has been the norm so far.

Hopefully we'll be seeing more outdoor grass track micro racing events in the not too distant future, I feel there’s a place in the UK for both indoors carpet (traditionally a winter affair), and outdoors summer micro racing. I know for a fact that everyone in attendance was mightily impressed with the day, and the club in question is rumoured due to popular demand to be running another similar event later on this summer.

So if you've got access to a dis-used tennis court or a decent size lawn, get the mower out and start grass track micro racing :)
